Ben Callaway

Director/ Instructor

Director & founder of Wilderness First Aid ,Ben is an active member of the team, Instructing in bushcraft/ Survival & Rescue techniques. He is also responsible for the general every day running of the courses.
He is a member of the Eastbourne Coastguard cliff rescue team & has served with them for the past seven years.

As a cliff man/ medic, Ben was the joint recipient of the life saver of the year award along with Roy Hopgood, fellow instructor.
He has spent a great deal of time in an outdoor environment in the Military, search & rescue & as leader of wilderness expeditions to such Places as northern Canada canoeing the great lakes.

Roy is a Qualified Trainer/Assessor with a commitment to professionalism and quality and a background of 30 years with the Ambulance Service as a Paramedic Manager.
He spent 10 years as a voluntary coastguard, where he held the position as a Deputy station officer for an area
including the Beachy Head cliffs - a renowned beauty spot but also a notorious suicide site. Whilst a member
of the Coastguard agency he was also one of their First Aid Instructors.

Throughout his career Roy has received commendations for incidents within his place of work from the Ambulance service and the Coastguard agency.In 2004 this resulted in him receiving an award for the Coastguard agency at the Vodaphone lifesavers awards at the Savoy Hotel in London along with him being presented to the Prime Minister Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street.




 

Ty Wood

Instructor

Ty is a dedicated outdoor instructor with numerous civilian and military qualifications to his name, including mountain leader & the military equivalent  the joint services mountain expedition leader or JSMEL, BEL 2 instructor, RCO, field craft instructor & SAR technical equipment adviser. you will never meet a more thorough & capable instructor.
